M&M Encounter

April 5th, 2009. (10 months old.) by ben

Yesterday, M&D gave me a bag of M&Ms to play with while they were putting the groceries away.

Unbeknownst to them, the plastic bag was no match for my my brand new super sharp teeth!

I went to work immediately!

When I saw them looking, I was careful to look like I was only casually gnawing…

… and to give them waves and big smiles to throw them off…

That should be enough cute distraction!

And when M&D finally figured out that I’d been tasting the M&Ms, this is what they were left with:

I thought if I drooled on every one, that this established my claim on them, but M&D thought differently.  No fair!

After my sugar rush, I crashed to sleep rather suddenly…

What a great day!

(Ed. Note: Now we know how sharp those teeth are!)

Street Hiking

March 28th, 2009. (9 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

This morning, Mommy and Daddy and I went for a hike around the neighborhood.  This is the “before” shot.

There is no “after” shot, but Daddy was a bit more tired, I think.  The view is great from back here!  This backpack contraption is pretty cool.  Maybe one day we’ll go for a hike in those hills behind us.  What do you say, Daddy?  Daddy?

Home Depot

March 15th, 2009. (9 months, 2 weeks old.) by ben

Today,  Daddy took me to Home Depot – and we left Mommy at home!  While we were there I was making noises like “OOOOmmmm” and “ga ga ga ga”, which apparently makes me fit right in with all of the other guys there,  particularly in the power tools section.  Daddy was saying something about “rite of passage” and “this not being my last trip here”, which I’m not sure I understand.  I did think the zillions of things stacked floor to ceiling were pretty cool, so I don’t think I’d mind coming back.

Pulling Up

February 24th, 2009. (8 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Daddy managed to catch me pulling myself up on the toy basket.  He and Mommy got really excited for some reason.  Anyway, M&D wanted me to share this video with you all, even though it doesn’t actually show me pulling myself up.

Crawling

February 10th, 2009. (8 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Boy did I have a good time today!  Not only was Daddy home from work today, but Mommy did a great job of capturing my latest and greatest for the ages.  World, here I come!

Shower Time

February 3rd, 2009. (8 months old.) by ben

I got to stand in the shower with Daddy the other day.  This water stuff is tricky, though.  You touch it, and it disappears! I’m definitely going to have to investigate this further in the future.

Swinging at the Park

January 25th, 2009. (7 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Today, M&D took me to the park to go on the swings!  It was a little cold and windy, though, so we didn’t stay for long.  Maybe next time it will be warmer and I’ll get a chance to practice pumping my legs!

My First Museum

January 2nd, 2009. (7 months old.) by ben

Today M&D took me to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.  I understand this is technically a ‘museum’ even though Daddy kept saying ‘This place is a ZOO!’.  The museum is evidently very popular since it opened last year – we waited in line for a 1/2 hour outside in the rain before we got in – and M&D had already bought the tickets online!

The exhibit behind us was about examples of evolution found on the Galápagos Islands – finches in particular.  And here’s a Galápagos tortoise:

Remember the Galápagos finch and tortoise in my room?

My favorite exhibits were the aquarium and the alligators!

Other firsts today: My first diaper change in a public men’s room (thanks, Daddy!), and my first trip to San Francisco (and across the Golden Gate Bridge!).

First Tooth!

December 14th, 2008. (6 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Santa is really coming through on my all anatomical Christmas list.  On second thought, if Santa had brought my tooth and left it in my stocking, I bet it would have hurt a lot less.  Hmmm… maybe I need to reconsider this whole ‘teeth’ thing.

Naaaaa.  Today: apple sauce.  Tomorrow: Apples!

Solid Food

December 12th, 2008. (6 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Well, that depends on the definition of ‘solid’, I guess.  But M&D have started giving me rice cereal and apple sauce.  So far, I’m batting about .500 keeping getting the food in – beating most major league baseball players.  Even still, M&D keep saying they think I’ll improve.  Sheesh!  Go easy on a little guy just startin’ out, will ya?

Oh, and I like the homemade applesauce (from home grown apples no less) waaay better than the rice cereal.
