Tooth #4

May 17th, 2016. (7 years, 11 months old.) by ben

Astute observers may have noticed in my last post a bit of a gap in my grin. No, it wasn’t the fault of a baseball! I lost this tooth fair and square – the first one that Daddy didn’t yank out with floss, in fact!

Ohhhhh, Tooth Fairy! Cha-ching!

Eye Exam

August 11th, 2015. (2 years, 6 months old.) by andrew

Well, it was time for another eye exam.  As usual, I get to sit in the big fancy chair.

Too bad they won’t let me play with all the buttons on the chair and that big fancy thing with all the knobs.  That would be so cool.

New Glasses

March 15th, 2015. (2 years, 2 months old.) by andrew

I got my new glasses. Turns out you can still eat pancakes with ’em.

And Daddy still shares his berry smoothies with me, and they still taste the same!

Soooo… so far this is working out!

Ed Note: Some interesting information about how vision prescriptions for non-verbal kids are made, and a bit about Accommodative Esotropia.  Andrew is so far (1 day) taking very well to his new glasses.

Eye Doc Visit

March 1st, 2015. (2 years, 1 month old.) by andrew

I went see the eye doctor, and it was terrible!  He put drops in my eyes so I couldn’t see very well, and then kept putting things right in my face!  All I wanted to do was go home.

Mommy and I finally went home and everything was OK. But the doctor did say that I have Strabismus, so I’m going to be getting glasses to wear to help make my eyes see better.

I guess this is just part of growing up. Sigh.

Twoth!

February 16th, 2015. (6 years, 8 months old.) by ben

Daddy pulled my 2nd tooth out.  It was really loose and I was itching for another visit from the tooth fairy.  (Ed. Note: It was also another shark tooth…)

This time it came out on the first try, and we found it right away this time.

First Lost Tooth!

November 26th, 2014. (6 years, 5 months old.) by ben

Well, Daddy said it was time for my tooth to come out since it had to get out of the way of my shark tooth.  So he tied it to the doorknob, and 4 tries later (the string kept slipping off!), it popped right out!

Yay!  My first lost tooth!  And we almost really lost it, too.  It shot out of my mouth, bounced off the doorknob, left the floss behind and disappeared.  Forty-five minutes of searching later, Daddy found it 15 feet away on the bathroom sink!  By then, I’d already written an explanatory note to the tooth fairy.  Good thing I didn’t have to use it!

The next morning, I found a gold dollar coin under my pillow!

Thank you, tooth fairy!

(Ed. Note: While the woven floss held on to the tooth better than the waxed, it has a much larger spring coefficient, which I believe responsible for the extraordinary trajectory of the tooth which caught us all off-guard.  Let this be a word of caution to parents out there.  Oh, and way to go, Ben!)

21

November 9th, 2014. (6 years, 5 months old.) by ben

That’s how many teeth I have right now… since my first big tooth is coming in and my baby tooth hasn’t fallen out yet!
Check it out: Shark Teeth!

(Ed. Note: Look behind left front tooth.)

If I get fins next, maybe that will make me a better swimmer?

Quail Addition

September 1st, 2014. (19 months, 2 weeks old.) by andrew

Well, I guess M&D can add me to their quail collection.

Which is I guess why I had to get my first haircut.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I guess M&D got tired of hearing me complain about my hair getting pulled in the bib latch.

Teeth – Delivered

January 22nd, 2014. (12 months, 1 week old.) by andrew

Those front teeth for Christmas?  Well, they arrived by my birthday!  Check out my new smile!

Chomp Chomp!

Teething

December 21st, 2013. (11 months, 1 week old.) by andrew

Sometimes nothing helps but chewing on metal.

I hear that one day, these might be covered with cookie dough, though.  That sounds… interesting?
