Chocolate Ice Cream

May 7th, 2013. (4 years, 11 months old.) by ben

We made some homemade chocolate ice cream and guess what? Daddy let me lick the ice cream maker stirrer clean.

Now if I could only lick me clean. Mmmmmmm…

Kite Flying

May 3rd, 2013. (4 years, 11 months old.) by ben

It has been really windy lately, so Daddy got out my kite that has been waiting for a day just like this one.

It works! Look at me flying my kite!

Trampoline at Henry’s

April 29th, 2013. (4 years, 10 months old.) by ben

We recently went to Henry’s house for dinner, and I got to play on his trampoline. Weeeeeee!

Look at me defying gravity!

Nice pictures, Dad!

Gardening with Mommy

April 27th, 2013. (4 years, 10 months old.) by ben

Mommy and I got out in the garden last weekend to do some planting. First we had to make sure the soil was ready to go. I got to break up all of the really big dirt clods, and make sure things were smooth and level.

Then we planted some potatoes.

I can’t wait until we can eat the ones we grow. Mommy is such a good gardener!

Flying spinners

April 5th, 2013. (4 years, 10 months old.) by ben

The other day, we made flying spinners at school. When I got home, Daddy got out the ladder so I could fly them in the family room.

Look at it go!

Field Trip to Train Town

April 3rd, 2013. (4 years, 10 months old.) by ben

Our last school field trip was to Train Town. We went for a ride on the train (of course!), and I sat next to my friend Dante.

The train stops partway through the journey so we can get off and feed the animals.

I got to feed them about 10 handfuls of food.

They have sheep, goats, and llamas. Boy are they happy to see us! I wonder if the people at train town even feed them? They’re always soooo hungry.

As usual, I can’t wait ’till my next visit to Train Town!

Balance Bike

March 9th, 2013. (4 years, 9 months old.) by ben

Lately, I’ve been riding my balance bike more. Daddy and I go down to the school blacktop where there is lots of room to ride.

When I’m 5, I want to get a pedal bike!

Mini golf

January 29th, 2013. (4 years, 7 months old.) by ben

Daddy and I went out to drive the go-carts and play mini golf.

I had a great time, but I found out that it is harder to hit a hole-in-one than I thought!

And those go-carts! They go too fast and they’re loud. I had to tell Daddy to slow down! I didn’t want him bumping into the edges of the track.

(Ed. Note: Ben was comfortable with about 4mph. 8 was too fast.)

Ice Harvest

January 17th, 2013. (4 years, 7 months old.) by ben

It has been really cold here the last few days. Daddy pointed out one morning that our fountain had frozen over! We decided to have some fun and find out if it was solid to the bottom, or just some ice on top. Break out the ice picks!

Turns out the ice didn’t go all the way to the bottom, so I could pull out the pieces. Cool! I mean, Cold!

(Ed. Note, ice was about 1/4″ thick)

Factory Tour: Jelly Belly Factory

December 27th, 2012. (4 years, 6 months old.) by ben

We went to take a tour of the Jelly Belly factory, which was a long car drive from our house.  It was still decorated for Christmas.  Can you believe how big that tree is?

Inside, there’s a giant flying Jelly Belly guy. And lots of candy.

We met Shannon and her family there for the tour.

They make pictures out of all the different colored Jelly Bellies.  This one is the Statue of Liberty.

Daddy said we weren’t allowed to take pictures of the machines and people during the tour.  But it was really fun to see.  There were millions of Jelly Bellies, and they were all different colors.  There were lots of conveyor belts and robots moving boxes of candy around.  At one point, there was a robot that waved to us!
