Bartender, part II

October 12th, 2009. (16 months, 1 week old.) by ben

After the Hawaiian bartender post, I thought I should work on my drink pouring (or at least filling) skills.  According to Daddy, filling drinks is what bartenders do when they’re not wiping down their trays.  So I guess I better learn!

Can you see how much I’m concentrating?  This is hard work!

Shower cleaning

September 30th, 2009. (15 months, 4 weeks old.) by ben

M&D let me help with all the chores around the house, like loading the washing machine, vacuuming, and now: squeegeeing the shower!  Water: now you see it, and now you don’t.  Presto!

Vacuuming!

September 27th, 2009. (15 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Now I’m upgrading from the dustbuster to the real mains powered floor cleaning machine!

This patch of floor is now the cleanest in the whole house!

(Ed. Note: Next on the list to teach Ben is how to cover more then just 3 square feet with the vacuum!)

Career Option: Bartender

Check out the video!

I think I’m a shoe in for a job on a nice tropical island!

Art!

September 12th, 2009. (15 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Here’s my first serious attempt at art.   I chose to create this work mostly at the suggestion of Jessica, my caregiver at BCC.

I’m titling this work: Crayons on Paper at BCC, Abstract #1.

Crayons on Paper at BCC #1. Media: crayon on paper.

In case it is not obvious, the yellow symbolizes my delight at exploring my new world at BCC.  The purple represents the conflict I have between enjoying my time at BCC vs. my displeasure at not getting to see M&D as much during the week.  Finally, orange and blue are the colors of the truck I was playing with.  I have to say that I enjoyed getting in touch with my inner artist while creating this piece, and I look forward to creating more works in the future!

Driving Trucks

August 27th, 2009. (14 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Lately, I’ve been discovering that you can drive trucks and tractors all over the house!  And all over just about everything in the house!

Here I am experimenting with tunnel driving.  Oh, and the driving works better when you make a good “grrrrrrr” or “vrrrrrrr” noise.

(Ed. Note: We’re told that the next stage in truck driving is truck smashing, as in two trucks in a head-on collision!  When it happens, you’ll see it here first!)

Mousing Around

August 21st, 2009. (14 months, 2 weeks old.) by ben

Today I got to spend some more time learning how to use the “mouse”.  I see M&D grabbing this all the time, and I can see why!  It has these buttons and a turning wheel and a red light!  Mommys and Daddys have all the best toys!

Bustin’ Dust

August 13th, 2009. (14 months, 1 week old.) by ben

This morning I upgraded from my usual dust mop to the power tool of dust-mopping: the Dust Buster!

I find that the determined look helps me eliminate fur balls and stray kitty litter that much more effectively.

Grrrrrr…..  Busted!

Drawers

June 26th, 2009. (12 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

M&D keep the best stuff in drawers.  The problem is that I’m just…not…tall…enough to reach in and get all that good stuff out.

img40d_00746

To address this issue, I’m growing taller and learning to use my tippy toes.   This works, but isn’t moving the process along as fast as I would like.  So I’m also experimenting with wishful thinking, telekinesis, and outright crying, which can be quicker, but has met with mixed results so far.

Spaghetti… with a fork!

June 23rd, 2009. (12 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

I finally convinced Mommy fork over the, uh, fork, and let me try eating with it.  Oh, and did you know that parents hoard the best food for themselves?  I’ve discovered that the best things to eat are right there on their plates.  Now that I’ve go the fork, I can reach those plates, too!
