Visit from Ma and Pa

February 15th, 2010. (20 months, 2 weeks old.) by ben

Ma and Pa came up to visit me this weekend.

I got to read together with Pa, though this was a book that I had not seen before.

img40d_02946

I got to show Grandma how to juice oranges, since I already learned how.

img40d_02952

I think she was giving me a big kiss ’cause she was so grateful to know how to make orange juice.

I think the most fun I had was driving Pa’s truck!

Wooo hooo!  Ma and Pa are welcome anytime.  (Make sure you bring your truck when you visit!)

Christmas II – December Strikes Back!

December 31st, 2009. (18 months, 4 weeks old.) by ben

Well, I guess it is that time of year again!  Time for a big car trip and getting to see lots of people (again).  Oh, and there was a lot of these things called “presents” that, once you “open” them, turn into fun toys to play with!

The first car trip was really fun.  I got to see lots of big trucks and point them out to M&D.  And then I got to Grandma and Jay’s house – and guess what?  They had a big truck (and a smaller one) just for me.

img40d_02600

Then it was on to Grandpa and Nana’s house.  I got to meet Simone and Davide and pal around with Darren.  Grandpa got me this really neat racing hat.

Then I got to do vacuuming and truck inspection before we left:

Next up, it was ping pong at Uncle Tommy and Aunt Danee’s party:

img40d_02635

Nobody wanted to challenge me, but I suppose that’s just as well since I couldn’t see over the edge of the table!

Later I got to open presents with my cousin Avery – I pulled “older cousin” rank and showed her the ropes:

I also had a great time visiting with Ma and Pa.  Can you believe some of the toys they have?  I’ve never seen a phone like this one!  It must be the latest technology:

I’m looking forward to Christmas III – The Return of Christmas, which I’m told is scheduled for next year about this time.  Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Visit from Grandpa and Nanna

November 25th, 2009. (17 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Grandpa and Nanna came up for a pre-Thanksgiving visit.

And Wow!  Look what they brought for me!  My very own Lightning McQueen Trike!  It has lights and makes noises and everything!

img_2774

Here, Grandpa is explaining the finer points to me, like did you know that there is a 1kg weight limit to the rear bin space?  That’s ’cause this baby is built for speed!  (Once I can reach the pedals, I’ll report on just how much speed it was built for.)

img_2777

In between rides on the new trike, I got in some quality reading time with Nanna.  I made sure to let her know how many words I already know.

img40d_02508

Grandpa got some reading time in, too.

img40d_02501

We also took a trip to the park to see the ducks.  What we actually saw were some really, really large geese.  It turns out we have something in common.  We both like bread!

img_2879

We also squeezed in a visit to the park where I got to go down the curvy slide…

img_2804

… and climb back up again all by myself!

img_2801

All in all, we had a great visit.  I’m looking forward to seeing Grandpa and Nanna again at Christmas time!

Visit from Grandma!

November 6th, 2009. (17 months old.) by ben

I’m not sure who was more excited about Grandma coming to visit – me or her.  Judging from this picture, I think it must be her.img40d_02471

I was wearing my skeleton costume and scaring all of the trick-or-treaters with my big smiles.

We had a great time earlier in the day at the park.  Grandma even took me down the big curvy slide!

img40d_02431

We found some quiet time for reading on the couch, too.  Somehow, Grandma already knew all the words in my books.  She must have studied hard before coming to visit.

img40d_02427

Grandma was also a real sport about letting me review the pictures on her camera.  As a seasoned blogger, I do like to control my images to ensure the highest quality for my readers.

img40d_02412

Hopefully on her next visit, she’ll bring Pa with her.  Last weekend definitely didn’t have enough ‘Lardo the cat’ or Michigan football talk.  Pa!  How am I supposed to learn about these things if you’re not here to teach me?

SoCal Visit – Ma and Pa’s house

August 10th, 2009. (14 months, 1 week old.) by ben

After Grandpa and Nanna’s, it was on to Ma and Pa’s.

Boy do they have some good toys!  (I think I have cousins Luke and Lucy to thank for that.)

First up was the tricycle.  I wasn’t quite ready to ride, but I had a great time pushing this around the patio.

img40d_01817

And then there was the slide!  I learned to climb in, and then with a little help was able to slide down.  Weeeee!

img40d_01826

After that, Ma got out this great rolling basket.  I figured this one out in no time.  Rock back, push, and away we go!  And I could take all my stuff with me, too!

img40d_01847

Later on, I got to help Ma water her garden.  The best part about this was getting wet and getting my hands in the dirt.  Fun!

img40d_01864

Oh, and did I mention the stairs?  They have stairs too, just like Grandpa and Nanna!

I also got to visit with my cuz Avery and Uncle John:

img40d_01757

We even went to the beach together!  I wasn’t too sure about the cold and noisy water, so we mostly watched from up on the sand.

img40d_01683

What a great time!  I can’t wait to go back!

SoCal Visit – Grandpa & Nana Stark

August 8th, 2009. (14 months, 1 week old.) by ben

After Grandma and Jay’s, I got to go see Grandpa and Nanna.  We had a great time visiting.  I especially enjoyed going up and down the stairs, and watching the waterfall in their backyard!  Oh, and the blueberries were really good, too.  Thanks Nanna!

img40d_01654

I also had fun moving this old pipe in the front yard.

img40d_01666

And of course there was the trip to the park.  I had fun climbing on the equipment with Daddy!

img_2734

I’d go back there to visit anytime!

SoCal Visit – Grandma Tice & Jay

August 2nd, 2009. (14 months old.) by ben

I had a great visit at Grandma Tice and Jay’s house.

For starters, the weather was very warm, and there was this nice cool fountain to play in!

img40d_01499

I got soaked and loved every minute of it!

Then there was a hose to investigate…

img40d_01515

…and then some watering cans to move around.

img40d_01540

Finally, I got a ride on the mower with Daddy.  Maybe next year, I’ll work up the nerve to steer!

img40d_01564

The next day, there were more hoses to investigate…

img40d_01568

…and a splash in the pool with Daddy as chaperon!

img40d_01595

I also was delighted to meet my Great Aunts Carol and Jean, and Great Uncle Phil.

Visit from Ma and Pa

June 5th, 2009. (12 months old.) by ben

Ma and Pa came up to visit for my first birthday.  Here we are, posing for the obligatory photograph.  Can you tell I’m ready to move on and get to the action?

img40d_00660

Grandma figured out really quickly how fun it is to rough-house on the couch!

img40d_00654

Grandma, you can come visit anytime!

Visit from Great Aunt Barb

June 3rd, 2009. (12 months old.) by ben

Great Aunt Barbara came up to visit last week.  She brought me a Corduroy book for my birthday that we read together on the couch.  We had a great time visiting!

img40d_00542

I have the nicest and most thoughtful relatives!

Piano with Grandma

March 10th, 2009. (9 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Grandma came up for a visit and she gave me a lesson at the piano – on the very same piano that she gave lessons on all those years!

imgd40_00519

My first learning was that it is a lot harder to play when you can’t see the keys!

Grandma and I also had a great time walking around the house.  She’s a real sport!  I can’t wait ’till I get to see her again!
