Gone Fishin’

May 28th, 2012. (3 years, 11 months old.) by ben

Today, M&D took me fishing at a local fishin’ hole.  They had a dock and everything.

I started by practicing with the net.  I got me!

Then Daddy got our hook in the water and I did some reeling.

After a while, I left the fishing to Daddy and I just did the netting.  Here we are, catching our 4th fish!

We’re planning to have fish for dinner tonight.  Anybody know how to cook trout?  Anyone?

Ed. Note: Thanks Jim for the loan of the pole and tackle!

Looks like a fun time and an adventure for both Ben and Dad. I’m glad Dad showed Ben how to fish as Granpa has no luck with fishing. Great pictures mom.

What a good day. Not just fishing, but CATCHING, too. Good for you guys.

    Mix some Flour and cornmeal.
    Roll the fish in it.
Fry the fish in 1/4 cup (or less) of vegetable or olive oil until skin is slightly crisp and fish looks cooked.

Cut the fish down the backbone, slightly off to one side.
Peel the side of the fish off the bone.
Pick up the bone from the tail and pull it off the fish. All bones should come up together if fish is cooked well.

Then, enjoy the savory taste of trout….. be very careful of any residual bones.

HI Ben, I know I am very late with my comments about cooking fish, but the recipe above sounds wonderful. I would only add that one could cut off the head before breading and also slit the belly to cut out the guts. Yuk! Luv, Ma
