Back in the Saddle

July 27th, 2015. (7 years, 1 month old.) by ben

I got to go back for another week of horse camp this summer!  And my trusty steed, Johnathan, is still there!

Each day, we take our buddies out of their stalls…

… walk them to the arena…

… and take them for a spin.  I can trot on Johnathan all by myself now!

Way to go Ben. I think Jonathan needs you lead him around and direct him while riding as he seems to have blinders on. I bet you had fun with your old friend.

Sadly, Jonathan lost an eye before Ben ever met him in a (horse related) accident. (Got kicked, as I remember.) He can see with his remaining eye through the netting, which is there to help protect his eye socket.

    Hi Ben,
I loved horses when I was younger but never had the chance to learn to ride them. You are a fortunate young man! They are beautiful and intelligent animals. Instead, I read many books about horses, both fiction and nonfiction, and even learned to draw pictures of horses on my own. It was so much fun.
Your horse friend Johnathan seems to like you very much. He must trust you. Horses can sense that from the beginning, so that is great that you both got along so well together. Maybe you can meet up with Johnathan again next summer.
    Love you very much
