Race Day

June 10th, 2010. (2 years old.) by ben

Last weekend, Grandpa and Uncle David brought Grandpa’s race car up to the track by us to go racing!  M&D took me out to the track to see what this was all about.

The first order of business was getting to wear these big ear thingies, which was really the pits.  I mean, I had to wear them in the pits.

Of course, I got to experience the race just like Grandpa does: complete with Chips Ahoy cookies sitting in one of Grandpa comfy race chairs! Grandpa, you can invite me to the races anytime.

I quickly found my critical role as morale boostin’ high-fiver.  It’s just a good thing I was done with my cookies when it was time for Grandpa to go.  I got to give Grandpa the big good luck sign as he headed out to the track.

Then we went to the stands to watch.  Boy do those cars go fast.  When they weren’t driving by, I had fun climbing up and down the chairs.

And on the way back to Grandpa’s parking place, I found a car of my own to drive!  Somebody left this one unlocked with the keys in the ignition!  I got to turn the steering wheel and everything!

I can’t wait to come see Grandpa race next year!

Mixin’ it up with Mommy

May 23rd, 2010. (23 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Today was Sunday pancake & egg day, and M&D didn’t disappoint.  Even better, I got to help make some of the pancakes.  Mommy gave me my own mixing bowl and ingredients.

Here, you can see my perfectly mixed dry ingredients.

Want to know my secret?  It’s all about height off the floor, which this chair helps me achieve.  You just can’t get this kind of perfection down on the floor.  Ever see a kitchen without counters?  Now you know why!

Now for the final mixing touches, for which I was outfitted with an apron. Something about being “messy”.  Have you ever heard that word?

Mommy did the cooking.  I wasn’t too keen on getting close to the griddle after getting a little too close last time :-(

Alas, my photographer took his break when it was time to eat, so you can’t see how much I enjoyed these yummy pancakes.  Yum!

Gardening with Mommy

May 9th, 2010. (23 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Last weekend, I got to help Mommy plant some onions in the garden.  Mommy makes a hole, and then I put the baby onion in it and cover it up with dirt so it can go to sleep.

Easter in LA

April 10th, 2010. (22 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Our trip started with going to the airport, and getting on an airplane!

I got to sit right next to Daddy!  The plane ride was fun because I got to eat snacks for almost the entire time.

And watching the big fans go around and around was fun, too.

We went to visit Grandpa and Nanna, and when we went to lunch, we parked right next to a FIRE ENGINE!

The fireman that was there was very nice and let Daddy and me sit in the driver’s seat!  Wow!

Later, we went to the park and I had fun on the swings…

…and then I spotted a garbage truck rumbling by.  I persuaded Daddy to let me down from the swing so I could chase the truck.  We were in luck as we caught up to José on his break, and he was nice enough to let me up into the cab with him.  WOW!

And then I got to sit with Grandpa in his RACE CAR!  I can’t wait to see Grandpa driving his race car for real!

Later, at Aunt Danee and Uncle Tommy’s house, there was an Easter Egg hunt.  “Cuz” Avery and I found all the eggs in no time flat.  Check out Avery’s swell hat!

Ma got us some nice Easter baskets, and Aunt Danee and Aunt Carol got us bunnies to play with.  Thanks Ma!  And Aunt Danee and Aunt Carol are really Great Aunts.

Oh, and I got a new aunt this weekend, too.  M&D said that while Grandma was looking after me, Uncle Ryan got married to Aunt Liz.  If aunts give you stuff like Easter bunnies, I’m all for having as many aunts as I can!

Puddle Jumping

January 24th, 2010. (19 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

During the recent rains, I got to go outside and put my rain coat and galoshes to the test!

Daddy was saying something about it being hard to find puddles “living on a hill”, but I don’t know what he was talking about.  I found plenty of water to splash around in!

Worst…Day…Ever…

January 12th, 2010. (19 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Today I got to learn all about coughing up dinner–something M&D called “vomiting”.  Unfortunately, this happened to be a first-person experience, and not a third-person experience.

I really wished that M&D could make it stop, but I guess they couldn’t.  I really hope this never happens again!

Family Pictures

October 1st, 2009. (16 months old.) by ben

Last weekend, we went to the park and this nice lady followed us around doing what Daddy normally does – saying “smile” and “Ben!  Look over here” “Wa Wa Wa Wa”.  You know, crazy stuff.  Anyway, now there’s some pictures of me & M&D.

(Ed. Note: Thanks for the preview of the nice photos, Jeneanne!)

Starting Day Care

August 18th, 2009. (14 months, 2 weeks old.) by ben

M&D took me to where I’ll be starting what they call ‘Day Care’.  It looks to me like a place with friendly people, other kids, and LOTS OF TOYS!  Yay!  In addition to seeing LOTS OF TOYS, I got to meet some of the friendly people and see where I’ll be spending a couple days a week.

Here I am on one of the fun climbing toys.  They say that they can make this one even taller for advanced climbers like me!

Tent

July 19th, 2009. (13 months, 2 weeks old.) by ben

Mommy pitched a tent for me us in the living room the other day.  Everything is more fun in a tent!  Who knew?

Walkin’ with Mommy

June 10th, 2009. (12 months, 1 week old.) by ben

Lately, I’ve been enjoying just walking out the front door and exploring the neighborhood – with Mommy around to make sure nothing is too scary, of course.

There’s all kinds of really neat stuff outside, like grass, trees, bushes, rocks, and bugs!
