Swim Lessons

August 14th, 2012. (4 years, 2 months old.) by ben

I’ve been taking swim lessons down at the Y.

I’m learning lots of things, like blowing bubbles, kick kick kicking, and “chicken, airplane, soldier!”  Also, I use spoons and not forks – “we’re not eating salad here!”.  My favorite thing to do is to float on a couple of pool noodles and kick my way around the pool, but my teacher insists that I go without when I’m practicing with her.  I’m getting better!

Emptying the Dishwasher

January 22nd, 2012. (3 years, 7 months old.) by ben

Lately, I’ve been an extra good helper.  And I have my safety vest so I can be extra safe!  Watch me in action!

(Ed. Note: New YouTube format that supports HTML5.  Hopefully this will play for people.  If not, please let me know.)

First Lego Creation

November 20th, 2011. (3 years, 5 months old.) by ben

Here’s my first Lego project that I made without any help from Mommy or Daddy. It’s a school bus!

It has wheels to roll on, and a steering wheel to drive it. And it is mostly yellow, and has seats for people to sit in!

(Ed Note: Hopefully, this is the first of many yet to come…)

Making Muffins

August 11th, 2011. (3 years, 2 months old.) by ben

I got to help Mommy make some chocolate chip zucchini muffins the other day.  I got to spoon all the batter into the muffin cups.  Talk about hard work!  But I did a good job and barely spilled any.  Which was really good, because that means more muffins!  And when they have chocolate in them, you don’t want to mess around!

Pits

July 29th, 2011. (3 years, 1 month old.) by ben

We’ve been getting a lot of cherries from the farmer’s market lately, and… guess what?  I learned to use the cherry pitter to remove my own pits!

I’m still working on the best technique to get them out, though.

Cheese is Grate!

March 20th, 2011. (2 years, 9 months old.) by ben

I still like helping M&D in the kitchen.  Especially when it involves cheese.  And really especially when I get to eat some of that cheese.  Mmmmm….

Can you believe Mommy lets me use the cheese grater?

Watching the iPod

October 17th, 2010. (2 years, 4 months old.) by ben

There’s nothing like a little dump truck and garbage truck video watching after your bath to really help you zone out.

(Ed. Note: When did Ben learn to drive the videos on the iPod???  Update: Yes, we’ve read about toddlers and iPods…)

Father’s Day

July 5th, 2010. (2 years, 1 month old.) by ben

Mommy took us to one of our playgroup haunts so I could show Daddy the sights.

Brush Creek Park has a cool water faucet that is great for making sand castles, or just getting yourself wet.

I also showed Daddy how I can sit on the big kid swings.

We had a great time!  Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!

Mixin’ it up with Mommy

May 23rd, 2010. (23 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

Today was Sunday pancake & egg day, and M&D didn’t disappoint.  Even better, I got to help make some of the pancakes.  Mommy gave me my own mixing bowl and ingredients.

Here, you can see my perfectly mixed dry ingredients.

Want to know my secret?  It’s all about height off the floor, which this chair helps me achieve.  You just can’t get this kind of perfection down on the floor.  Ever see a kitchen without counters?  Now you know why!

Now for the final mixing touches, for which I was outfitted with an apron. Something about being “messy”.  Have you ever heard that word?

Mommy did the cooking.  I wasn’t too keen on getting close to the griddle after getting a little too close last time :-(

Alas, my photographer took his break when it was time to eat, so you can’t see how much I enjoyed these yummy pancakes.  Yum!

Computer

May 22nd, 2010. (23 months, 3 weeks old.) by ben

I have now discovered how to turn the computer on, so I can play with it whenever I can sneak away from M&D.
